HSOB-Burnside Hockey Club
The modern club, one of Christchurch's largest and most active, was formed in 1989 with the amalgamation of two distinct entities Christchurch High School Old Boys' & Burnside Women.
The club has consistently been in the top 3 of the Premier now CPL competition over the last decade, while both Division 1 teams have been equally strong with the men in particular having won the competition for a number of years. The club regularly supplies players for both local and national representative duties. Recent black sticks include Stacey Carr and Kate Saunders and for the men Gareth Brooks, Shea McAleese and Jan Peterson.
A social club, HSOB Burnside are one of the few clubs that retain clubrooms, and annually have a club party as well as club nights. Over the last few years we have become international with players from the UK, South Africa, Australia, Holland and Argentina joining our club. Whilst we welcome all inquiries from afar, we just can't pay your airfare sorry :-)
