Andrew Nation withdraws from the Canterbury Mens Squad
       
Andrew Nation has had to withdraw from the Canterbury mens team after sustaining a serious injury during club training. A deflected ball caught him flush on the side of the face. The impact left him with a dirty mouth as well as a jaw that had been broken in three places. A photo and X-Ray of the injury follows.

**Annual Club Party - 12 July 2008 - Tight and Bright**
       
The annual club party is set for Saturday 12 July at the HSOB Cricket/Hockey Clubrooms, Hagley Park, 7.30 on, theme 'Tight and Bright'. Door entry is $10 on the night and tickets can be purchased in advance from any HSOB Burnside Premier player or contact Hilary Sutherland . The first drink is complimentary and bar snacks will be provided on the night.

Club Social Events for 2008

Planning is underway for this years social events. Dates for the Club Quiz Night and Club Party will be confirmed over the next few months

The Alan Patterson – Mary Deakins Promising Players Scholarship - Successful Applicants Announced

The inaugral winners of the clubs first scholarship are Dan Quinn and Gabby Galletly. The club would like to extend their congratulations and look forward to following their development over the season. We would also like to thank all those who applied and were ultimately unsuccessful.
The scholarship is named after the club's two outstanding past Olympians and New Zealand captains. Alan (Banjo) Patterson played for New Zealand from 1963 till 1972, captained the side from 1965 and participated in the Tokyo, Mexico and Munich Olympics. Mary played for New Zealand from 1980 till 1992, captained the side from 1985 till 1989 and participated in the Los Angeles and Barcelona Olympics.

Zoppo announces new sponsorship

Zoppo hockey have signed on the talented youngster, Benji Nation. Benji is believed to be the firms youngest signing to date.

However rumours suggest that this may well be bettered in the near future with negotiations currently under way to sign 6 mth old Lachlan Timlin.
